Junior Developer / System Analyst at Annaly Capital Management:
Annaly Capital Management is a highly respected New York-based REIT that is involved in a number of financial services businesses. These businesses range from the management of a publicly traded fund (NYSE: NLY), which purchases high-quality MBS using financing from top-tier investment banks, through to a market-leading CDO auction business, conducted by its subsidiary FIDAC.

The Annaly IT team is currently looking to augment its staff, to help the firm maintain its technology infrastructure and to further develop its in-house software, which is used to manage thousands of MBS positions.
We are looking for a smart, pragmatic, self-motivated individual who gets things done and who would work exceedingly well in our small-team environment. Wherever possible we follow ISV best practices, and in that vein we view almost every line of code as entailing a business decision. Thus, we are looking for someone who wants to grow, both in their knowledge of programming and finance, and yet who is willing to do whatever it takes to move the company forward, every day.

As a Junior Developer / System Analyst at Annaly, you will be:
• Assisting us as we continue to introduce leading-edge technologies to the firm, to further its competitive position.
• Helping end-users reach their maximum productivity on a daily basis – essentially doing whatever it takes to keep the systems and infrastructure running smoothly.
• Automating IT processes wherever we can to be more efficient, whether it's writing small dedicated applications or script / batch files.
• Learning the MBS business, and helping us to improve MortgageMatrix, our client / server .NET 3.5 based internal software system, which is used to manage a multibillion portfolio and repo book. The system handles everything from front-office to back-office, and is used daily and heavily by almost all of our traders.
• Testing the software systems, and automating tests whenever possible. This also provides a way to aptly learn the system and the business.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has a strong background in computer science or information systems
• Is a team-player
• Is a self-starter
• Is organized (someone who documents and tests their work on a routine basis)
• Has excellent logic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Has excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Can work daily at our office in New York City
