Introduction to Role:
Since all our products are designed and built in-house, there is an immense amount of variety in the software development component of the position, and this will continue to grow as we expand the services we offer locally to US clients. As the New York office continues to grow the number of clients and offer an ever increasing range of cutting-edge products, the opportunities for those with a strong technical background wishing to work in a client-facing capacity continue to grow at MX Telecom. From explaining the nuances of our solutions to the largest multinationals and smallest start-ups, to capturing new software requirements and providing after sales support, technical account managers are an integral part of the team, both in the marketing and technological arms of the company.
Description of Role:
The successful candidate will be working with our application platforms fulfilling a technical client-facing role and working on the software development of a range of products and services across a variety of technologies and business areas including: SMS, MMS, Location Based Services, IVR/Telephony, Video and Bespoke Application Development.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and specification of software systems
- Technical implementation and testing of solutions
- Troubleshooting and customisation of systems
- Providing pre-sales technical support and product-specific expertise to the client and the sales team
- Providing post-sales technical support and configuration assistance to the client
- Consulting with the client for feature enhancements and bespoke development, and communicating these requirements to product managers
Experience and Skills Required:
The candidate should have a genial, professional manner and should be comfortable with working in a small, dynamic, busy company. They should be able to help set their own objectives within a rapidly changing framework and be persistent in pursuing them.
Demonstration of excellent problem solving and communication skills will be necessary. A solid understanding of software design and development methodologies, and the ability to work in teams or unsupervised on projects of varying scope is essential. Use of Java required; Servlets, RMI, JDBC, HTML and SQL highly desirable. Proficiency with Linux, networking and distributed systems an advantage. Above all, we seek the ability and desire to learn new skills and technologies through hands-on involvement in live projects.
You will need to be an enthusiastic Computer Science or Engineering Graduate from a respected university, and preferably have some commercial experience.
