FlightAware is looking for a talented, enthusiastic software engineer to join the FlightAware development team.YOU:Eat, breathe and sleep software.US:FlightAware is the number one aviation website in the world, providing live flight data, airport information, weather maps, flight planning, navigation charts, aviation news and photos to over two million users a month.THE ROLE:Create beautiful, simple and intuitive pages for our website using your expert knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.Work closely with our development, sales and executive teams to create new user experiences which help our users find the aviation information they need.Work quickly and autonomously, on small teams, alongside talented, high-performance co-workers.Comfortable working in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, with a preference given to candidates with experience in start-up or emerging companies.Driven to develop well-architected, maintainable, clean and efficient code.Work with QA to ensure the sites reliability.YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:Real computer science education at least including data structures, programming languages and networks (BS/MS or somewhere in the vicinity)jQuery or another Javascript toolkit jQuery strongly preferred3+ years of JavaScript, HTML, CSSStrong background in programming and software developmentAble to own projects and take the initiative to see things through to their conclusionGood communication skills and the ability to work on a team, with a strong sense of project ownershipExperience with OpenLayers is a major plus.Pilot certificate (even student) is a plus.Prior experience with scripting languages (Tcl, Perl, PHP, etc) is a plus.Prior experience with SQL databases is a plus.CAREER GROWTH:Promotion opportunities to senior engineering or management positions.COMPENSATION:Varies between $55,000 and $70,000 based on experience, background, pilot certificate, and education.
