Full-time(Lawrence, Kansas) The online division of the World Company in Lawrence, Kansas, seeks a Web Designer to join our award-winning team as we build the next generation of interactive community news and information web sites.
Web Designers develop wire frames and mock-up design options in support of project specifications and goals; code approved designs in Django templates using industry and department best practices; participate in collaboratively researching, imagining and creating innovative interactive community news environments; stay up to date on the latest online possibilities and trends; provide support for existing web site features; and in general take part in a fast-paced, collaborative team building our new generation of interactive publishing tools and web sites.
Ideal candidates will have two years web design experience; a highly developed sense of visual communication and user experience design; a solid understanding of interactive online communications; ability to solve problems and learn quickly; ability to work with a team and meet deadlines; high proficiency in HTML and CSS; experience with dynamic template languages; experience designing for the mobile web preferred; experience developing user experiences with Javascript. Prior knowledge and experience with Python and Django, Django templates, jQuery and Ellington a plus.
